One young ship breaker is Nailer and his world is turned upside down when a modern day ship crashes on the coast after a violent storm hits the area. ![]() The abandoned oil rigs provide a treasure trove for the locals to scavenge and sell parts with the scavengers being known as ship breakers. Times have become rough on what is left of the US gulf coast. It seems that the world has finally come to terms that dependence on fossil fuels is not a good thing and ships that had transported oil are now being abandoned into ship graveyards. ![]() The first novel, Ship Breaker, introduces us to a world that has been ravaged from climate change and it looks like the US of A has taken it pretty bad. It is, however, quite violent with a dystopian outlook on humanity’s future which may be too intense for younger readers. It is labeled as a young adult series mainly because some of the main characters are young, early 20s and maybe in their teens. This will be the fourth series that I have reviewed on climate change and I would have to say that, so far, it is one of the best. Iun addition, we get an exploration of the play's themes, as Parks tries to dispel some myths. The story follows Suzan-Lori Parks, an acclaimed playwright before Topdog/Underdog, as she tries to get her new play put up by The Public Theater in New York. Starting with the playwriting process, The Topdog Diaries gives the viewer an intimate look at the process of mounting a major off-Broadway production. All in all, I highly recommend this film as a modern day thriller. I cannot stand Julia Roberts or any movie she has ever been in (I actually WATCHED My Best Friend's Wedding with my girlfriend in the theaters, and it was so bad even she couldn't watch it). ![]() Monica Potter is indeed Julia Robert's clone, and that's not good in my eyes. Also, Michael Wincott is one hell of a great villain, as he has proved time and time again in The Crow and Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, as well as this film. Of course, it didn't hurt the film's stature to have Morgan Freeman back in the lead role, the guy doesn't seem to be able to make a bad film and is one of the most underappreciated actors of his time. Whenever she's near Lucas or any member of his family she sees the ghostly apparitions of three women weeping bloody tears, and suffers the burden of an intense and irrational hate. Making matters worse, Helen is beginning to suspect she's going crazy. Which is terribly inconvenient, not only because Lucas is the most beautiful boy on the island, but also because Helen is so achingly shy she suffers physical pain whenever she is given too much attention. The 1984 motion picture " 2010: Odyssey Two" was based on the completed novel, so in its case the novel is in fairly close agreement with the screenplay. The novel " 2001: A Space Odyssey" is based on the final version of the script for the 1968 motion picture, but, even so, in some regards they differ due to late changes made by director Stanley Kubrick to that picture after the novel had largely been completed.
